The "Support a Child" program was launched by the Ministry of Gender – Child Welfare and Community Services of Malawi, a country beset by economic hardships and one of the highest rates of HIV-AIDS infection on the African continent. Brother Dennis Sheppard, president of UNDE local 90102, was in Malawi in April 2005 to assist in the building of an orphanage known as Gander House. Since his visit, Brother Sheppard has continued to raise support for Malawi.

The Street Kids feeding program originally started out as a feeding and registration program. This generous donation by the PSAC Social Justice Fund has enabled the program to start a skills training program such as carpentry, tinsmith, mechanics, tailoring and crafts.
